In fall of 2000, an informal survey was initiated by Dr. Robert 
Robbins of Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center
to determine if Cancer Centers and other Biomedical Research 
Institutes had common research computing
structures and requirements. The survey 
was followed by a meeting at Fox Chase 
Cancer Center in April of 2001 to discuss the results of 
the survey. Attendees at the meeting were informatics directors and those
responsible for research computing. 
 The goals of the meeting were to: 
 The meeting will follow-up on issues that came up at the initial BRITE meeting, and we will also hold sessions related to the new HIPAA requirements for data collection and storage. |
